Old School Dancehall
Old School Dancehall entails the Authentic Jamaican flow, feeling, groove and attitude that derived from the natural, unique expression of the pioneer dancers who emerged on the scene in the late 1980s. Dancehall Dancing is associated with the music, as the lyrical content of the tunes are often instructional, where the artiste describes a particular movement for the dancers to follow. There is a worldwide interest in this phenomenal cultural expression, as people crave the display of raw eccentric / idiosyncratic talent and Jamaica has a reputation for the creation of vibrant, pulsating and trendy dance moves. There are numerous popular dance moves created since the 1980s with interesting names based on cultural experiences.
The steps being taught where created by Dancehall dance pioneers such as DHQ Carlene, Bogle, John Hype, DHQ Stacey and Bruk Up and many others.
